Yeah. I know of at least one more car running stock ECU and race gas with similar boost levels. I hear of cars doing it every so often, but noone that I know personally. I guess people here in socal are probably more aggressive when it comes to mods. I was wound up about people advising people to get 555cc injectors to run more than 16psi on stock turbos, which would obviously be such an overkill. Why would anyone wanna spend so much $ on injectors just so they can turn up the boost by 2 psi(which I doubt it will do on pump gas anyway). I know you're talking about stock ecu vs jwt..... I had a different cause, LOL. : stock turbos. Let's clear this up right away. Even if you think conservatively as Jim Wolf does and think stock injectors max out at 15.5 psi, why put 555's in just to run a couple more psi (where the turbos max out at 18-19 psi anyway). That's the conservative side. I believe with a basic Stage 3 setup running 100+ octane, you can run 17+ psi. I have no doubt that you will not detonate. That's not the question here. The real question is whether the JWT ECU is worth it or not. I don't know of many Z's running 19 psi on stock ECU's. That's one thing I know. Just because you have 1 case, it doesn't scientifically support this theory. People want to be 99.9% sure before they go do something. I'm just saying it's not good advice to run around boosting without the JWT ECU. That's just my opinion.
